Jim Lasota...
What's new...???
Wow! 2008 is halfway gone! How can this
be? Musically, the last several months have
been quite busy. I had the privilege to
perform the Bach Brandenburg 5 with the St.
Matthew’s Chamber Orchestra. Performing
with fabulous flutist Nancy Marfisi is always
fun and rewarding. In January, I was able to
play Debussy’s l’apres Midi du Faun and
Barber’s Knoxville, Summer of 1915. What a
treat! Porgy and Bess in Concert with the Bel
Canto Choir under the direction of Steve
Gothold was magnificent. IN addition to that
piece, the first half was an all Copland
program. Copland has been big this year, as
I also played "From the Tenderland" with the
St. Matthew's Chamber Orchestra.

Jim Lasota...Fluteman!
Aside from the shows at Fullerton Civic Light Opera (West Side Story and Jekyll and
Hyde), Musical Theater West (Pajama Game), and Golden West College (The Secret
Garden), other fun things are on the horizon.
I will be doing recitals in Laguna Beach and in Claremont this year. One will be an
eclectic assortment of classical, jazz and pop selection performed with flute, piano
bass, and drums. I’m calling it “Flute-a-touille”! The other is a recital with flute and
harp.
This year, I turned 30…ok 40…ok 50 (do you have a copy of my passport or what?)
and we celebrated it in Paris. Aside from great seats for Celine Dion in Paris, we also
recreated a chamber music party with the new friends we met there last year. On the
way to Paris, we stopped in London for a few days to visit the Queen and see some
shows. We saw Mama Mia, Blood Brothers, Billy Elliott and Jersey Boys. They were
all great! We got our first ride on the Eurostar to Paris which was great for Adrian, as
he is a train lover. Check out the new pix!
Finally, I have gotten feedback that some of you who know me, know that I cook, and
would like me to divert from the flute topic and post some of my recipes. Well, check
out the new recipe page. They are there for your delicious downloading delight. I’ve
tried to give credit where credit is due, but some of them are so old, I can’t remember
where I got them. Good God, I guess that last admission makes me old too. Oh
well…whatever! Enjoy! I look forward to hearing from you soon.
